**The
ILLUSION GAME**

** **

** **

** **

Do
you already know the **Quick** and **Easy** way to subtract?

No? Then play the "desertRacer" game instead,

or find out more here.

Better still, just go ahead and

play the game

and learn as you go

using the HELP

(see below).

Yes? Then decide which you want to practice with:

Subtract 9's, 8's or 7's.

Click your choice...

A rather boring sign appears as above.

The important part is:

"Take away 9

again and again..."

Of course, you use the subtraction shortcut

trick method! Don't do it the hard way!

Click OK to start the game...

The screen is blank except for one number. In this case its "93"

Take 9 off it.

Using the Add a Complement method

we see it will:

Drop from "90-something" down to "80-something".

So it begins with 8.

Type "8" on the keyboard.

Hurray!

So far so good!

The "8" has appeared on the next line down.

Now what does it end in?

The complement in 10-circle of 9 is 1

(because 9 and 1 make 10)

ADD the 1

to the 3 of 93

to get "4"

Type in the "4"

The full answer is "84"

The 93

has been replaced with 84

and

The first part of an

OPTICAL ILLUSION

has appeared.

Keep going

and you will get the

entire optical illusion!

Next step: Take 9 off 84.

*(again in this case drop it to
70, *

*then add 1 onto 4 to make 5. *

*The answer would be 75).*

**Break
Time**

You will get a break when this sign appears:

Just click OK

when you want to continue.

**Watch
Out!**

When a sum is EASY

just do it!

For example:

39 - 9 is EASY.

Don't use the shortcut!

**3
9**

__-
9__

__3
0__

**right!**

39 less 9 is just 30.

Take 9 off 9 leaving 0.

If you use the shortcut

you'll get this mess:

**3
9**

__-
9__

__2
10__

**wrong!**

*The HELP is quite
handy.*

*It will teach you how
to do it *

*even if you don't
know how!*

Not sure how to do it?

**Just type in the
wrong answer.**

**Help immediately appears.**

In this case we need to take 9 off 84.

The actual answer is 75.

Instead I type a 6:

Help appears and tells me that

4 - 9 "won't go".

If I type another wrong answer (6 again)

it goes one step further:

Hey!

It's telling me that I need to

drop into the 70's.

8 goes down to 7

("80-something" becomes "70-something")

Let's say I make yet another mistake.

I type yet another 6!!!

Help goes one step further again!

Its telling me:

1. The complement of 9 is 1 (red numbers)

2. To add the 1 to the 4 to get 5

It's also giving me the final answer!!!

After this HELP just recycles.

Just type in the 75

to continue.

**END GAME**

To end the game just hit

the "**ESC**"
button

on the keyboard.

**VARIATIONS**

There are THREE optical illusions

to find in this game.

(After that they recycle!)
